On Oct 25, the 144th anniversary of Huang Xing's birth, the Hunan Provincial Cross-Strait Exchange Base launched at his former residence in Changsha county.

Huang Xing was a Chinese revolutionary leader and politician. The first army commander-in-chief of the Republic of China, he was one of the founders of both the Kuomintang (KMT) and the Republic of China, making his position second only to that of Sun Yat-sen.

Changsha county built Huang Xing's Residence in 1862 and established the Huang Xing Memorial Hall in 1980. After renovating and reopening, Huang Xing's Residence became an important business card for Changsha county. It receives 450,000 visitors annually, of whom 2,300 are from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas.

Fu Lei, deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Hunan Province, said at the unveiling ceremony that Huang Xing had great influence as a pioneer and leader of the Xinhai Revolution of 1911. The memorial also plays an important role in promoting cultural exchange between Hunan and Taiwan.

Tan Xiaoping, director of the united front work department of the Changsha municipal committee, said that the Huang Xing Memorial Hall has built a platform for Taiwan people to strengthen the identity of Chinese culture.

It will be used as a platform in the future for policy publicity and to promote strong cooperation and cross-Strait exchanges.
