A delegation of 16 journalists from the Philippines and Brunei visited Xiamen, Fujian province, from Oct 22 to 24 with the aim of promoting exchanges and communication with the city.
Led by columnist Michael Jose M. Alunan from Business Mirror, a business newspaper in the Philippines, the journalists were from influential local mainstream media.
Yao Jianhong, deputy director of Xiamen's Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, briefed the journalists on the city's economic and social development.
Alunan said that he and his colleagues were impressed by the great exchanges and achievements Xiamen has made since China's reform and opening-up 40 years ago.
He said they hoped to visit the Chinese city again and expected more cooperation with the more open China.
The members of the delegation visited Xiamen Free Trade Zone, Xiamen Urban Planning Exhibition Center, Xiamen International Cruise Home Port, Xiamen Software Park, Gulangyu Island and Guanren community, an international community, during their stay in Xiamen.
