Turnover of Hainan's online common wealth platform surpasses 1m yuan

Hainan's first internet plus poverty alleviation common wealth website (www.hainanfp.com) achieved a trade volume of over 1.12 million yuan ($161,300) within nine days since it began operations on Oct 16.

The platform gathers local agricultural products from 19 cities and counties in the island province. Besides fruits, vegetables, livestock, poultry and grains, it also offers aquatic products, local specialities and handicrafts. It aims to open up a marketing channel for low income farmers and provide a steady platform for poverty alleviation via consumption.

The most popular product on the platform is passion fruit from Sanya Yucai Ecological Zone. As of Oct 24, the fruit had received 1,746 orders generating total sales of about 68,000 yuan.

The operation team of the platform next plans to actively facilitate cooperation with the agricultural, business and poverty alleviation departments of cities and counties, as well as e-commerce and logistics companies, to organize promotional activities and expand the platform's influence, increasing trading volume and enhancing the income of people in financial difficulties.
