A batch of packages started their journey from Pingtan to the cross-Straits commercial warehouse set up in Taipei on Oct 23, being the first ones delivered by Taiwan S.F. Express Co Ltd.

The warehouse, set up in Taipei on Oct 31, 2017, provides cargo services across the Straits. It advocates using high-speed maritime transportation instead of more expensive air transportation.

Founded in 2007 by S.F. Express, a giant in the delivery industry, Taiwan S.F. Express Co Ltd is the warehouse's new business partner.

It is hoped that the new partnership will enable the warehouse to make substantial costs in operations.

The packages, including clothes, books and accessories, will take Lina ferries, that shuttle between Pingtan and Taiwan, and are expected to be delivered to customers one day after their arrivals in Taipei.

The cooperation between Taiwan S.F. Express Co Ltd and the warehouse has now started its trial operation in Fujian's Fuzhou and soon will be expanded to other areas on the mainland.

"Transferring cargo at Pingtan before heading for Taipei can make full use of maritime transportation to deliver heavier goods and those that cannot be transported by air," said Qiu Mengqin, a staff member from the company running the warehouse.
