Guangzhou annual jazz festival to kick off in December

The southern Chinese city of Guangzhou will kick off its annual jazz festival on Dec 1. Lasting until March 12 of next year, the 2018-19 Guangzhou Jazz Festival will be co-hosted by Guangdong Xinghai Performing Arts Group, Xinghai Concert Hall and the publicity department of Yuexiu district.

Famous American jazz double bassist Ron Carter and American trumpeter and composer Wynton Learson Marsalis, the winners of several Grammy Awards, are both slated to perform. 

Founded in 2015, Guangzhou Jazz Festival is the only jazz festival in the country named after a city. It is on par with the Beijing and Shanghai music festivals and sees the participation of many domestic and international jazz masters each year. Public participation has also grown year by year, and it has created a new business card for Guangzhou's city culture.
