The urban traffic big data sharing platform developed by Xiamen company was listed among the pilot projects of China's big data sector, according to a recent announcement released by the country's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The Xiamen-based GNSS Development and Application Co created the platform by combining new generation information technologies, such as internet of things, mobile internet, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, with numerous data, including vehicle positioning, road video images, traffic conditions, traffic offences and road accidents.
The platform can be used to analyze public transit passenger volume, optimize traffic network system, support traffic management during major events, visualize the monitor of traffic accidents, among others.
According to the Chinese ministry, the sharing platform is expected to be applied in other Chinese cities.
As of now, the Xiamen company has served more than 3,000 companies in China's 60 cities, benefiting over 100 million people. The company also helped render a smooth and safe traffic during the BRICS Summit in 2017, the Shanghai Cooperation Qingdao Summit in 2018, the 2018 Straits Forum and the 2018 China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT).
