The construction of a demonstrative area for green recycling low-carbon industries is underway in Yangzhou and is expected to be put into use within three years, according to the Yangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission.
In September, Yangzhou was listed as one of the resource recycling bases by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

Yangzhou enjoys a strong industrial foundation as its environmental technology industrial park in Yangmiao town clusters over 30 companies involved in resource recycling.
"Being a resource recycling base and having the qualifications to build a national level one means the know-how that Yangzhou gains in recycling resources will be able to be promoted all over the country," said Lang Jun, an official from the Yangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission.
"Yangzhou has over 10,000 restaurants and canteens, producing a lot of kitchen waste every day. We recycle over 100 tons of kitchen waste and turn them into marsh gas and biodiesel," said Qian Wei, general manager of Capital Environment Holdings Limited, a comprehensive environmental service provider.
"The industrial park is now able to deposit and recycle different types of waste including construction waste, medical waste and scraped cars. The park handled 1.29 million tons of waste in 2017," said Lang Jun.
