A new China-Europe freight train line was launched on Oct 18, linking Tongliao city in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Perm in Russia.
The train was launched by Port of Dalian in Northeast China's Liaoning province, together with railway and customs departments and related companies, in an effort to revitalize the old industrial base in Northeast China and to strengthen China-Europe logistics links.
The trip covers more than 6,300 kilometers and takes about 18 days. The first train to use the new line carried 46 timer containers from Russia.
The new service is expected to do weekly runs before the end of this year.
In addition to timber, the trains will transport food and other goods for further processing in Tongliao, which will attract more investment to the area.
