People living in Hangji Port, Dornogovi province, Mongolia, got connected to China's electricity grid on Oct 10, finally doing away with oil lights and dung fire.

Mayor of Dornogovi province and staff members from Baotou power supply bureau attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Department officials and customs officers of each country also were present to witness this historical moment.

Chief of Baotou power supply bureau said at the ceremony that the bureau would provide more convenient services for local people and make long-term plans regarding power supply in regions around Hangji port.

Mayor of Dornogovi province expressed his gratitude for China’s power supply and said that the cooperation would further promote communication and cooperation between electricity companies of each country.

On the day, staff members from China installed guardrails around the transformers and made the last inspection tour for the 4.87 km long transnational power supply line. Representatives from the Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner substation of Baotou power supply bureau and local power supply companies also signed a power supply contract.

Local residents dressed in festive costumes were present to witness the power being connected. Mongolian girls also sang cheerful songs to celebrate the change of life for the better.
