World's biggest VLOC undocks in Yangzhou

The biggest 400,000-ton-class very large ore carrier (VLOC) in the world undocked at Yangzhou on Oct 19.

The Yuan Jin Hai was manufactured by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) Co Ltd, a large heavy industry enterprise for ships and offshore transport under the umbrella of the shipping industry cluster of COSCO Shipping Corporation Group.

Covering seven cargo spaces, the VLOC is 362 meters long and 65 meters wide with its sea endurance reaching 25,500 nautical miles.

As a second-generation VLOC, YUAN JIN HAI was safer and friendlier to the environment compared with the first generation of ships, due to its being Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) -Ready and able to use  energy more efficiently.

Its deck is as large as three standard football fields and can travel between any two of ports in the world without refueling in transit.
