The Guangzhou General Team of Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement in Cultural Industry was rewarded for its contribution to copyright protection at the 2018 WIPO-NCAC Copyright Awards held in Suzhou, Jiangsu province on Oct 19.
The WIPO-NCAC Copyright awards program is the result of cooperation between the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The biennial award is the only international award related to copyright protection and the highest accolade available for those working in the field in China.
The team was the sole winner of this year's WIPO-NCAC Award for Copyright Protection.
Winners of the WIPO-NCAC Award for Copyright Protection are those who actively advocate the rights and interests of rights holders, explore innovative ways to enforce copyright protection, creatively solve problems faced by copyright protection, and make outstanding contributions to purifying the operating environment of the copyright market and promoting its development.
According to statistics, the special team from Guangzhou handled 5,230 copyright-related cases, investigated 685 cases of infringement and piracy and completed 37 major cases transferred from the National Copyright Administration and the Guangdong Provincial Copyright Administration. The team has made outstanding contributions to building an innovative city in Guangzhou and purifying and regulating the industry.
