The ISO International Standardization Training Base, second of its kind established worldwide, was unveiled at the 40th anniversary ceremony of China Jiliang University (CJLU) in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Oct 17.
Founded in 1978, CJLU is the only university qualified to offer bachelor's and master's degrees in Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in China.
The new training center, aiming to cultivate a group of professionals in international standardization by offering related courses, is an important step for China in expanding cooperation and exchanges with other countries and being involved in international standard-setting practices.
"We hope the center will become an enabler and facilitator of the standardization work in China," said Song Mingshun, president of the university.
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is a non-governmental international organization that develops and publishes International Standards, and is the largest standards organization in the world.
