Shakespeare comedy to run in Guangzhou

One of William Shakespeare's most famous comedies, Twelfth Night, launched in Guangzhou on Oct 12. The performance is a collaboration between Guangzhou Drama Art Center and the British Royal Shakespeare Company.

Since 2013, the Guangzhou Drama Art Center has launched special activities to promote classical works and each year selects a world-famous drama as the key performance of the year.

In January, the center put the Handan Dream, a classic Chinese play by one of China's most revered playwrights, Tang Xianzu of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), on stage at Hackney Empire in London.

Running until Oct 21, the Guangzhou rendition of Twelfth Night is a new interpretation of the work from a modern cultural perspective and represents a key part of the international drama cooperation program of the Guangzhou Drama Art Center for 2018.
