Interest in innovation and entrepreneurship in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region is growing, as evidenced by the rising numbers of makerspace programs and incubators.
Hohhot has nearly 50 makerspace programs and more than 20 incubators of different scales, announced Hohhot Technology Department recently.
Statistics shows that there were 589,000 newly registered businesses in the city in 2017, among which 7,500 are startups.
The increasing number of businesses have helped create jobs in the city.
The local government has continued to promote innovation and entrepreneurship for years and has made great progress in attracting entrepreneurs.
The Saihan district demonstration base for mass innovation and entrepreneurship was named the regional demonstration base of Inner Mongolia last year for its outstanding performance.
According to the government, 254 enterprises have established in the base, with total revenue reaching 248 million yuan ($35.85 million) during the first six months of this year, an increase of 10.2 percent.
