The 2018 Youth Rugby Cup national touch rugby championship was opened in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Oct 13.
Sponsored by the Chinese Rugby Football Association (CRFA), eight teams with a total of 100 players and coaches from home and aboard participated in the event. Young players exchanged skills through the tournament to improve their own levels.
It is the first time Hohhot has held a youth rugby championship, offering the city a great chance to actively support the popularization and promotion of youth rugby.
Yan Youfu, secretary-general of Hohhot's sports federation said that the government plans to introduce rugby into schools, helping to strengthen teenagers’ bodies.
"As a team sport, rugby is expected to develop students' team spirit and togetherness," he said.
