Ordos cashes in on National Holiday

The city of Ordos saw soaring tourism numbers during the seven-day National Holiday, with tourism revenue reaching 730 million yuan ($105.48 million), according to a recent news release by a local media organization. 

The city, in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, received 1.68 million tourists during the holiday, a year-on-year increase of 15.8 percent, and this year’s tourism revenue registered an increase of 16.3 percent over last year’s figures. 

According to statistics revealed by the local tourism authority, the top three popular tourist attractions are Ordos Wildlife Park, Kangbashi district and Whistling Dune Bay, with the respective number of visitors to the three places being 315,000, 125,000 and 710,000. 

To add more fun to the holiday, many scenic spots launched a wide array of activities, such as a fishing contest in Engebei Tourist Area, a campfire party and Mongolian-style fashion show in Kangbashi district and an international food festival in Ordos Botanical Garden. 

Attractions featuring parent-child tours proved to be popular, such as Kubuqi Desert Park, Ordos Wildlife Park and Whistling Dune Bay.
