The 2018 Pingtan Innovation Forum for Entrepreneurs and Scientists was held on Sept 28 in Pingtan, attracting around 600 entrepreneurs and experts in science and economics from both sides of the Strait.
This year's forum focused on emerging industries, and a series of sub-forums on various topics such as unmanned driving and brand development were organized.
A total of 47 projects, worth approximately 19.66 billion yuan ($2.84 billion), were signed at the forum. Thirty-three investment projects of 31.62 billion yuan were also launched, including five projects in emerging industries and two in the modern logistics industry.
The construction project of an offshore wind power plant is the largest industrial project in Pingtan in terms of its investment, amounting to around 6 billion yuan.
Developed by China General Nuclear New Energy Holdings Co Ltd, a State-owned company, the offshore wind power plant is expected to be put into use before 2020 with an annual generating capacity of more than 220 KWh and an annual output value of 1 billion yuan.
"Pingtan enjoys good wind resources. After our first visit in Pingtan in 2012, we have seen the great achievements it has made in its rapid development," said Huang Yicai from the company.
Huang added that the improvement in Pingtan's investment environment and its geographic location of being close to Taiwan contributed significantly to the further development of Pingtan.
