The city of Guangzhou held a cultural promotion activity in Cyprus' capital Nicosia on Sept 26.
"Floral Whisper along Silk Road — Cultural Journey of Maritime Silk Road" was organized by Guangzhou culture, radio and TV, press and publication bureau. Similar events were launched in Sri Lanka and Malaysia on Sept 21 and 24 respectively.
Featuring a mix of exhibitions, performances, cultural salons and public interaction, the event was an international exchange platform along the Maritime Silk Road aiming to promote the cultural heritage of its cities and regions.
In Nicosia, performances were given by artists from Guangdong including Cantonese Opera shows, puppet shows, and Guangdong folk music. Artists from Nicosia also treated their Guangzhou guests to a distinctive local dance with a history dating back nearly 1,000 years.
On Sept 27, a photo exhibition held by the Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King and Thalassa Municipal Museum took place in Ayia Napa. The exhibition displayed the history of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum and discussed historical changes concerning the rise, development and prosperity of the Maritime Silk Road.
