Yantai in East China's Shandong province held a forum on medical treatment and health industry development on Sept 27 in an effort to promote investment.
Six projects in the medical treatment and health sector were signed at the forum. Parks and research bases such as a stem cell regeneration industrial park, a bio-pharmaceutical research base and Qixia aishan hot spring health town are to be built.
Zhang Dailing, the mayor of Yantai , Bao Xinyong, director of the city's health and family planning commission and some heads of medical companies attended.
Bao detailed Yantai's medical treatment and health development in recent years. The city has built a medical expert think tank and health industry alliance to help promote the sector’s development. There are 25 medical and health industrial parks under construction or planned in the city.
The government has offered financial rewards to enterprises engaging in innovative development and promoted the establishment of biomedical research and development service platforms.
In 2018, the city will invest 9.4 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) to carry out 22 key projects in the sector and build an international bioscience innovation demonstration zone.
To achieve that goal, it will employ high-level professionals to build biomedicine parks and accelerate the construction of 11 international biomedicine public technology service platforms.
