The Ulansuhai Nur (Wuliangsuhai) Wetland, in Urad Front Banner of Bayannuur (Bayannur), is an ideal habitat for assorted aquatic plants and birds due to its ecosystem. It has enticed nearly 6 million wild birds for nesting and breeding every year.
Ulansuhai Nur is recognized as a pearl of Inner Mongolia autonomous region. It’s a rare lake zone surrounded by arid steppe and desert areas, and was also included on the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance in 2002.
With the migration season coming, the swans, geese, egrets, mallards, cranes and gulls have flocked to the wetlands and lakes. Protected and endangered species have been observed in recent weeks, according to local wildlife conservation institutes.
In recent years, the local government has worked hard to protect the water and air environments through retrieving grasslands from reckless grazing and planting drought-resistant trees to control desertification.
