The Fifth Inner Mongolia International Equestrian Festival Summit Forum was held in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Sept 21.
Themed “New Era, New Sports”, the forum attracted experts and scholars from government organs and industrial associations to discuss the preparation work ahead of the equestrian festival and the development of equestrian sport in China.
“Inner Mongolia boasts natural advantages in developing equestrian sport and it has a centuries old horse culture,” said Tan Jingfeng, director of Inner Mongolia Sports Bureau, speaking at the forum.
He introduced that the festival, launched in 2014, is the only equestrian event included in the list of national quality sports events.
According to Tan, the equestrian festival will help promote the tradition of horsemanship in the region and boost the local economy through integrating the sports and tourism industries.
During the forum, attendees also exchanged ideas on opportunities and difficulties the government faces to increase teenagers’ involvement in the sport.
