Advantages of China Speech Valley

Since its establishment five years ago, China Speech Valley has developed rapidly and achieved remarkable results under the framework of a “ministries, provinces, academies and cities” cooperation mechanism. It has formed a good industrial influence and brand awareness throughout the country.

First, China Speech Valley has accelerated the development of industrial chains. By the end of 2017, China Speech Valley’s annual output value (including industry and services) was about 51 billion yuan, with tax revenue of 2.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 55.9 percent and 56.3 percent respectively. China Speech Valley has gathered more than 300 key enterprises in industrial chains, such as iFLYTEK Co, Huami, New H3C Group and USTC Sinovation Software Co. 

It formed a complete industrial chain covering the research and development of core technologies of voice and artificial intelligence, basic platforms, Internet of Things, intelligent customer service and wearable equipment. It has successively acquired four national titles, namely “national level space for mass creation (particle space)”, “national demonstration base for new industries”, “demonstration base for entrepreneurship and innovation of small and micro-enterprises”, and “national incubator for scientific and technological enterprises”.

Second, China Speech Valley leads technology development worldwide. In recent years, the core technology developed by iFLYTEK Co has taken the leading place in the world. In the field of artificial intelligence, iFLYTEK Co has taken first place in the international cognitive intelligence test and the top in the international knowledge mapping contest. iFLYTEK Co ranked the sixth in the global 50 most innovative companies, ranking the first in China, according to the MIT Technology Business Review in June 2017. At present, the iFLYTEK Artificial Intelligence Open Platform has been listed in the four national artificial intelligence platforms, with a total number of users exceeding 1.8 billion, daily service volume of 4.5 billion, and innovative teams numbering more than 600,000. 

Third, China Speech Valley is supported by multiple policies. The governments of the provincial and cities have set up a number of special policies to support the development of enterprises’ innovation and entrepreneurship in Anhui province. There are measures for project support and management of the Hefei comprehensive national science center and several policies for developing emerging industries and scientific and technological innovation. In addition, in September 2017, Anhui province issued policies supporting China Speech Valley and set up an industrial development fund with a total of five billion yuan to invest in intelligent voice and artificial intelligence projects in different stages. A special fund of 800 million yuan was set up for the development and application of intelligent voice and artificial intelligence industries to support enterprises with sound momentum. 

Fourth, the China Speech Valley has attracted many talents. Hefei high-tech zone and China Speech Valley have taken advantages of the China University of Science and Technology of China and the Hefei Institute of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to attract industrial elites worldwide. All kinds of high-end talents have gathered in the Hefei high-tech zone, accounting for 70 percent of Hefei’s total. The contribution rate of talent capital to economic growth has reached the level of the first-tier cities in China. 

Fifth, the applications of China Speech Valley’s technologies have expanded. Speech Technology is widely used in smart homes, smart security, VR/AR and other consumer applications. A vehicle-borne voice integrated platform has been used in five series and 20 models of Jianghuai Automobile, and widely promoted in independent automobile brands and international brands such as Toyota and Benz. Home appliances voice recognition modules will be installed in nearly 200 models of TCL, Konka, Changhong and other manufacturers with more than 10 million subscribers. 

Sixth, China Speech Valley will promote sustainable development. The industrial park plans to cover an area of about three square kilometers, creating “one core, two areas and many parks”. “One core” refers to the core area surrounded the iFLYTEK. The “two areas” means the incubation and industrial areas. The incubation area will give full play to the functions of public platforms such as the Provincial Investment Co and cultivate small and medium-sized enterprises and develop new business forms. The industrial area will mainly focus on the development of industries in the key areas of intelligent voice and artificial intelligence. “Multi-park” refers to the many industrial parks on intelligent voice and artificial intelligence to be built to promote the key application fields.
