Relying on its resource advantages, Guizhou has developed numerous new material industry clusters, including high-performance metal and alloy materials, high-performance inorganic nonmetallic materials and new building materials, fine chemical materials and polymer materials containing phosphorus, fluorine, iodine, silicon, rare earth and other elements, new energy materials and electronic functional materials, and so on.
Guizhou achieved 16.3 billion yuan ($2.42 billion) in industrial output value in the new materials industry and 4.42 billion yuan in industrial added value in 2015, an 11.19 percent increase over the same period last year.
The new materials industry in Guizhou has developed rapidly with regional characteristics. Guizhou has built three national new materials industry bases in Guiyang, Zunyi and Fuquan. Guizhou is a national leader in wet-process phosphoric acid purification technology, high strength and tough aluminum alloy and lithium ion battery anodes material.
Guizhou has accelerated the development of new materials and new technologies with high comprehensive performance, most efficient use of resources and low environmental impact. It built a new materials industry cluster in 2017 represented by Guiyang and Zunyi.
Guizhou plans to become a center for the new materials industry as well as a base for new energy-saving and environmentally-friendly building materials in west China. It aims to achieve a total industrial output value of 35 billion yuan and an industrial added value of 9 billion yuan by 2020.
