High-speed rail to Jiangmen & Zhaoqing contracted

Zhuhai will be accessible by another high-speed railway in addition to the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity MRT and proposed Shenzhen-Zhuhai High-Speed Railway.

Bidding for site selection research of the Zhuhai-Zhaoqing-Jiangmen High-Speed Railway's Zhuhai section has been completed, and work will soon commence, according to a public notice posted on the Chinese government purchasing website on Aug 17.

The 117-km (73-mile) Jiangmen-Zhaoqing rail section is designed to handle speeds of up to 350 kmh (217 mph). It will run from Jiangmen Railway Station through Xinhui's Nantan Island and Qipu Town to the newly built Daze Railway Station. It will then cross the Foshan-Kaiping and Jiangmen-Luoding expressways, going northward to Heshan West Railway Station.

The rail line will then continue along the G94 Pearl River Delta Ring Expressway, crossing the Guangzhou-Gaoming and Guangzhou-Kunming expressways to Huilong and Shapu railway stations. It will eventually cross the Xijiang River to terminate at Zhaoqiang East Railway Station.

Construction of the Jiangmen-Zhuhai and Jiangmen-Zhaoqing sections is to be pushed forward at the same time.
