Guangzhou shines at Summer Davos

Guangzhou drew the global attention at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2018, also known as Summer Davos, held in Tianjin on Sept 19.

The annual "Guangzhou Night" made its fourth appearance at the event, showing attendees the high-tech and exciting "Guangzhou style" as part of an appeal to numerous enterprises and industries to invest in the city.

Guangzhou, located in the Pearl River Delta, is going through a period of changing its development mode and optimizing its economic structure. Foreign investors are optimistic about the role Guangdong plays in globalization and local enterprises are expected to seize the opportunity to participate in international competition.

Cedar Holdings Group, sponsor of "Guangzhou Night", achieved an operating income of 221 billion yuan ($32.32 billion), ranking 361 on the Fortune Global 500 list for the first time, the only local private enterprise to make the cut. Zhangjin, founder of the group, said that Guangzhou has always been at the forefront of the country in supply chain areas, and it is very suitable for the growth and development of supply chain enterprises. As an international hub city, it is also a vital trade center for goods and services in the Asia-Pacific region. Relying on these advantages, Cedar Holdings Group is predicted to rank in the world's top five supply chain enterprises within five years.

Covering the city's strategic emerging industries, the Guangzhou delegation was made up of 15 small and medium-sized high-tech enterprises and eight commercial enterprises, including several from the fields of artificial intelligence, information technology and biological medicine. The event gave them a chance to explore new opportunities and communicate with world renowned economists.

Zhang Jiancun, chairman of Guangzhou Henovcom Bioscience Company, said that Guangzhou is an open and inclusive city with a fair and competitive business environment, enabling it to attract innovative and high-tech enterprises.
