After taking innovative measures, Guizhou has achieved great success in the development of its small towns over the last five years, serving as an example for less developed areas.
To promote the development of small mountain towns, Guizhou has launched over 60 documents involving policies, management, and technology for the planning, construction, management, and reform of small towns.
In addition, 29 supporting policies from a reform support system will introduce 195 economic and social management authorities at county level, and stimulate the development of small towns.
To achieve its goal of high living standards at the town level, Guizhou has set up 15 monitoring indicators, including over 7,000 yuan ($1,022.4) per capita disposable income for rural residents, over 80 percent coverage rate of cooperation between villages and towns, and 100 percent standard-reaching rate of demonstration projects.
The cooperation between villages and towns is a breakthrough in the integration of urban and rural areas. The development pattern will help develop planning, industrial development, infrastructure, public services, green space, and management in both areas.
With the establishment of the demonstration project library, which includes 28 categories such as infrastructure, public service facilities, livelihood security, and industrial development, the development of small towns in Guizhou is transforming from a pipe dream into reality.
