Baotou Airport inspects new dual-view X-ray machines

The Aviation Security Department at the Baotou Airport has completed the first inspection of a dual-view X-ray machine placed at Baotou Airport recently, according to baotounews.com.cn.

The test result showed that the equipment meets the functional requirements and relevant technical parameter standards, passing the test.

This year, Baotou Airport Aviation Security Department has acquired and started using two dual-view X-ray machines. According to the relevant requirements of the "Regular Inspection Standards for X-ray Safety Inspection Equipment for Civil Air Passenger Baggage", the equipment needs to be checked on a regular basis.

The dual-view X-ray inspection equipment was primarily tested for the penetrating power, line resolution, penetration resolution, spatial resolution, organic vs inorganic matter resolution and radiation leakage, as well as whether the X-ray equipment meets the technical parameters during operation.

The X-ray machines previously used at the Baotou Airport only had a single angle of imaging. When unable to make a clear judgment, security staff had to inform the security inspector to adjust the angle of luggage and re-examine the contents.

The dual-view X-ray machine adds two sources of laterally emitted rays that enable objects to be imaged separately at two different angles. The high-resolution displays and multi-angle object identification can enable security personnel to be more certain of what's inside the baggage.
