A total of 25 international students celebrated the upcoming Mid-autumn Festival with local residents in the Gengxin community of Xigang district, in Dalian, Liaoning province, on Sept 19.
Mid-autumn Festival is a harvest festival celebrated by the Chinese people. The festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar with the full moon and under the theme of thanksgiving and reunion. This year’s Mid-autumn festival falls on Sept 24.
The international students are from Russia, Poland, the United Kingdom and Japan. To celebrate the festival, they enjoyed performances and moon cakes. This is the eleventh time for the moon festival-themed activity to take place in the community.
Valeriia from Russia has stayed in Dalian for one year. She said that it was very interesting to experience the making of moon cakes.
Krystian from Poland said that this was his first time to celebrate the Mid-autumn Festival and eat moon cakes. He just arrived in Dalian three weeks ago and is looking forward to enjoying his life in the city.
