Construction work of water diversion project starts in Hohhot

Construction work on the Hasuhai Water Diversion Project started in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Sept 15.

The project will divert water from Hasuhai reservoir to ease the water shortage of the western areas in the city.

The project's pipelines will run 41.55 kilometers east to west across the city.

According to the local water authority, the project is estimated to provide 100,000 tons of water every day to the western areas.

The project came into existence after the city set a goal of correcting the imbalance in development between the city's western and eastern areas.

The construction of the water project will lay the foundation for development in western areas.
