The 2018 Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum was held in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi province, from Sept 16 to 18.
The forum features a summit, six sub-forums and one international cooperation conference.
Sun Yuejin, executive deputy secretary-general of the forum's organizing committee, said that the international forum strives to be a high-end exchange and dialogue platform in the energy field for the international community.
Representatives of UN agencies, heads of international organizations in the energy field, officials of foreign countries' energy departments, leaders of national ministries and commissions and well-known experts, scholars and enterprise executives in the global energy field gathered in Taiyuan for the international event.
Taking the summit forum as a learning opportunity, 48 international guests attended the forum, accounting for 38.4 percent of the total number of invited guests.
The six sub-forums were organized with joint efforts from foreign institutions of higher learning, research institutes and well-known enterprises and think tanks, bringing together global wisdom. The hosts and speakers are mainly foreign guests.
The forum had a very international flavor with the main theme being "the energy revolution benefits mankind".
Sun Haichao, deputy secretary-general of the Shanxi provincial government, said that the theme of the forum is in line with energy being the cornerstone and motive force behind society's development, in line with the trend of the changing times, and in line with the values of building a community that decides the direction of human destiny.
Shanxi Lu'an Group was hoping to use the forum as an opportunity to find partners for cooperation in global clean energy development and application among the international companies attending the forum.
Shanxi Institute of Coal Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and foreign universities such as Nanyang Technological University and the University of West Virginia cooperated in scientific and technological exchanges, research and development and jointly running training programs focusing on new energy technology and industrial development.
China Taiyuan Coal Transaction Center and Peking University worked together to release China's energy index in order to enhance China's voice in the international energy market.
