Cantonese culture garners global attention at world routes forum

The 24th World Route Development Forum kicked off in Guangzhou on Sept 16 and a promotion event to introduce distinctive Cantonese culture became a highlight.

The "We, Guangzhou" event is being held by the Guangzhou culture, radio and TV, press and publication bureau and features Cantonese food, art works and music.

The event showcases distinctive local intangible cultural heritages, folk music and Cantonese food for the honchos of the aviation and port shipping industries from all countries, giving them a chance to appreciate the unique cultural and artistic features of Guangzhou and know the southern Chinese city better.

Guangcai Ceramics and olive kernel carving attracted much attention at the event.

"The World Route Development Forum is a very good international platform and I am glad to see so many people like the olive kernel carving. I believe it is very helpful for the inheritance of traditional culture," said Zeng Zhaohong, a master of the national intangible cultural heritage.
