The framing of a medical waste transfer station in Pingtan has been completed after a four-month period of construction, and it is expected to be put into partial operation at the end of October.
Located at the north end of the Shang'ao Transformer Substation in Jinjingwan area, the station covers an area of 4.5 mu (3,000 square meters).
Four cold rooms in the station for different kinds of medical waste such as pathological waste and pharmaceutical waste will be the first ones to be put into use.
"About 40 workers are working overtime every day to make sure the construction of cold rooms can finish on time," said Chen Shangping, who is the general manager of the construction project.
When completed, the medical waste transfer station will be able to store about 100 tons of medical waste, which can meet the temporary storage demands of medical waste in a year.
