Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, started a promotion activity in Changdao Island on Sept 17.
A group of journalists from more than 20 major media agencies including People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency and China Daily will embark on a fact-finding tour to report on developments in the Changdao Marine Ecological Civilization Comprehensive Pilot Zone.
During the three-day tour, the group will visit some typical scenic spots like Changshan mountain museum, Tuoji Island and Seaweed Cottage to enjoy the picturesque scenery and get to know the zone's situation.
The marine pilot zone was established in June, 2018 with the approval of the Shandong government.
It consists of 151 islands in Changdao County in the northwest of Yantai city and its territorial sea area. The island covers 56.8 square kilometers and its related sea area is 3,541 square kilometers.
With the support of local government, Yantai aims to build Changdao into a comprehensive zone integrating the marine and tourism industries and ecological development.
The promotional event is expected to gain popularity for the beautiful island and lure more visitors and investors to help boost its ecological development.
