The fifth China Mongolian Dancing Competition was staged at Ordos Grand Theater, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Sept 13.
Sponsored by Inner Mongolia Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Ordos municipal government, the competition was hosted by Inner Mongolia Association of Dancers, Ordos publicity department and Ordos administration of press, publication, radio, film and television.
The competition, which started in 2004, is considered one of the most important dance events in the region. It is held once every three years, and has been held on four occasions.
Since the competition was initiated, a lot of acts have had their big break from the contest, with some of them going on to win important national honors, such as the Chinese Dance Lotus Award.
Compared with previous events, this year’s competition saw a higher number of contestants and better quality dancing.
A total of 180 acts performed for the initial consideration of judges, with 87 of them going through to the final round. Nearly 1,000 contestants from 40 teams registered for the event, with contestants traveling from Jiangsu, Gansu, Qinghai, Hainan and cities in Inner Mongolia for the event.
