A two-episode documentary tribute to the 10th Jiangsu Horticultural Expo is expected to be air on China Central Television (CCTV) in October.

Yi Yuan Tian Zao (A Garden Built by God) showcases the charm of traditional Chinese gardens. The documentary focuses on a monograph named Yuan Ye and the Yuanye Garden built in the park of the 10th Jiangsu Horticultural Expo in Yizheng, Yangzhou.

Yuan Ye, or Art of Gardening, the world's earliest academic monograph about gardening with an international reputation, was completed in Yizheng during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

Now in Yizheng where the monograph was created over 380 years ago lies Yuanye Garden, whose overall design was inspired by the Wu Garden recorded in Yuan Ye as a cultural inheritance.

"The idea of this documentary originated from Yangzhou's distinctive culture, history and landscape. We also took advice from local scholars and masters in culture," said director Li Dapeng.

The documentary crew went to Yangzhou six times in five months to interview experts and shoot scenes. Various Yangzhou gardens such as Slender West Lake, Ge Garden and He Garden were included.
