Euro-China Green & Smart City Award goes to Yanji

Yanji was awarded the Industrial Innovation Prize at the 2018 Euro-China Green & Smart City Summit in Ningbo on Sept 7 for its significant achievements in building an environmentally friendly city.

The capital city of the Yanbian Korean autonomous region of Jilin province has taken the initiative in energizing the ecological industry and improving its urban environment in recent years. A series of measures have also been put forward to develop the digital economy in the city.

As a result, the green coverage rate of Yanji reached 40.2 percent and the proportion of fair air quality days amounted to 92.6 percent in 2017, standing out from the 80 other competitors across Europe and China.

The 2018 Euro-China Green & Smart City Summit, initiated by Foundation Prospective & Innovation (FPI) in France and China Center for Urban Development (CCUD), aims to reinforce the Euro-China cooperation in developing green and smart cities via a series of platforms and projects.

Twenty eight Chinese and European cities were granted the Euro-China Green & Smart City Awards this year for their contributions to the scheme.
