Pingtan showcases charm at Venice Film Festival

As one of the official activities of the 75th Venice International Film Festival, the annual Focus on China event was held between Aug 30 and Sept 1.

Since 2016, Focus on China has been held during the Venice International Film Festival to encourage cinematic culture exchanges and to discuss further cooperation in the film and television industries.

Pingtan, 125.94 kilometers away from Taiwan, is a place known for its splendid seaside scenery. It was listed as a Beautiful Shooting Places in China during the event.

Many film crews have chosen Pingtan to shoot scenes such as the popular TV show Dad, Where Are We Going? and the film New Dragon Gate Inn.

Liang Xin, a representative of the cross-Straits film-television cultural industry base program in Pingtan, showed a video depicting the Pingtan's rich history, as well as its passion and creativity.

"Pingtan has abundant and distinctive natural resources for film shooting, which is rare among scenic areas in China," said Liang.

In recent years, Pingtan government has attached great importance to the development of the film-television cultural industry.

Twenty preferential policies were released in June to support the construction of the cross-Straits film-television cultural industry base, which is expected to start at the end of this year.
