Costing 230 million yuan, China's first coconut-themed sightseeing factory – Chunguang Coconut Kingdom – was inaugurated at Longlou town, Wenchang on Sept 9 as an exemplary model to advance all-for-one-tourism in Hainan province.
The 60-mu (four-hectare) coconut kingdom earmarks different areas to satiate tourists with coconut culture, while offering them a taste of coconut delicacies, a peek into manufacturing techniques and a try-out for themselves.
According to a spokesman of developer Hainan Chunguang Foodstuff Co Ltd, the coconut food production lines in the factory were all imported from European countries such as Denmark, Sweden, Italy, and Holland, and adjusted to cater to domestic tastes with self-owned technology.

Tourists interested in how coconuts are processed into candies, biscuits, and other snacks can have their curiosity satisfied at the visualized workshops and R&D testing rooms. Those with children wishing to make coconut food by themselves can head to the parent-child DIY multi-functional classrooms.
During the opening period, a coconut carnival is underway at the Chunguang Coconut Kingdom, with a collection of graffiti walls, food fairs, interactive games as well as hot-air balloon experiences on tap.
Under the strategy of "Tourism Plus", the project not only marks a successful exploration of blending agricultural deep processing with cultural tourism, but will also create nearly 600 local jobs.
