A delegation of over 10 entrepreneurs in agriculture from Taiwan visited Huaisi town in Yangzhou on Sept 4, holding a promotional fair to seek more opportunities for cooperation in industrial projects.
Since the only cross-Straits agricultural cooperation pilot site in Jiangsu province was set up in Yangzhou in 2014, Yangzhou has carried out frequent exchanges with Taiwan in the economy and trade.
"Yangzhou possesses a good environment and is rich in resources. The local agricultural industry is well developed and is outstanding in many fields such as aquatic products and sightseeing agriculture," said Tseng Chi-ming, leader of the delegation.
Tseng added that Yangzhou and Taiwan are highly complementary in the agriculture industries and there are many opportunities for further cooperation.
"We plan to build a base in Huaisi town for cultural and creative industries and attract young people interested in agriculture from across the Straits," said Tseng Chi-ming.
Zhang Debiao, a local official, said Huaisi town is working on building a provincial-level agricultural demonstrative zone on the basis of the fruitful cross-Straits cooperation.
