Nanbei Lake

Some 80 kilometers east of Hangzhou, Nanbei Lake in Haiyan county offers visitors a tranquil spot away from the frenzy of West Lake and other popular tourist spots. Though smaller than West Lake, it too was originally a lagoon adjoining the Qiantang River. The environs contain a collection of gardens, bridges and pavilions scattered around the lake.

Dongqian Lake

Surrounded by green mountains, Dongqian Lake is a glittering pearl in the south-east suburbs of Ningbo. It is the largest freshwater lake in the province and has been dredged and renovated by several dynasties.
