The 2018 Hunan Cycling League and the fourth Longtoujing Bicycle Motorcross (BMX) started in Jiangbei town, Changsha county on Sept 2, with nearly 300 cyclists and bikers from all over the country participating. A reward of 70,000 yuan (about $10,261) will be given to the winners.
Longtoujing, which has held four consecutive mountain bike races, has a bike track of 4.18 kilometers, with a beautiful natural environment. The track is built according to the standards of cross-country tracks and is completely based on the natural conditions of the area. The diversified off-road challenges cover the needs of both junior and senior bikers.
Chen Yi'en, the champion among men aged 18-39, said that the varied and difficult tracks and the beautiful scenery provide riders with an excellent riding experience.
Eco-cycling is the theme of the competition. Changsha county has tried hard to integrate sports and tourism, aiming to build the county into a regional tourism destination and lure more people into visiting, settling, and starting businesses there.
Tian Guang, a leader of the Longtoujing farm, said that the cycling competition has attracted many visitors and increased their income several times over.
