Hainan's new WeChat account service bolsters safety for hitchhikers

Hinews.cn, a key news website in Hainan, recently added a public benefit service to its WeChat account to help passengers who accepted a lift or hailed a car online at night alone feel more secure. 

Hainan's first online tool of that type, the new service includes free functions of filing vehicle information and sharing a passenger's real-time position with friends and relatives, which should frighten evil-minded drivers and also prove convenient for government departments when accidents happen.

The joint developers also include Hainan Dongpinyun Supply Chain Technology Co, Ltd, an online frozen food B2B purchasing platform operated by hinews.cn. It is a major incubating enterprise of the Hainan Internet Plus Innovation and Entrepreneur Center.

Where to use the service?
