The Changsha International Railway Port, located in the Jinxia Economic Development Zone, has become Hunan province’s link to the Belt and Road, as it has become the carrier for Xiang Ou Express.
The Xiang Ou Express is a series of freight train routes between Hunan and Europe. The routes shorten travel time between Hunan province and European countries, connect Changsha with cities in Europe, central Asia, and the Middle East, and expand the space for opening-up and cooperation.
Yang Guoping, chairman of Changsha Xiangtong International Railway Port Co, said that the port will be developed into the most influential comprehensive logistics service center, container consolidation center, bulk cargo multi-modal transit center, commercial logistics center, and information service center in Central China. The use of the internet will also shorten distances within the market.
The Hunan-Europe express line starts from the railway port, connecting China with Europe, central Asia, and west Asia. The first section of the Changsha International Railway Port was put into use in 2013, and the second section will be operational by the end of 2019.
After beginning operation, the port is expected to drive the transformation and upgrading of the logistics industry in Hunan province, taking full advantage of its resources, information, efficiency, cost, and service.
