Metro from Nansha to Guangzhou downtown to take only 30 minutes

Metro line 18 and 22 have ushered in their key phases following the shield tunneling machine that started tunneling between Qifu Station and Guangzhou South Railway Station on Aug 29.

According to Xu Kunjie, head of Guangzhou Metro's publicity department, the two lines, forming a Y-shape route due to the shared route starting from Wanqinsha Station to Panyu Square Station, will cut travel time from Nansha New District to Guangzhou East Railway Station to only half an hour.

The designed speed for the two lines reached a whopping 160 kilometers per hour, the fastest speed for subway construction in the country, enabling passengers to reach their destinations in a quicker way and alleviating the traffic flow during rush hours.
