An elaborate system of road transportation will be built up in Jilin by the end of 2018, ramifying throughout the province and reaching all rural scenic spots above 4A-level.
As planned by the Transportation Bureau and the Tourism Development Committee of Jilin, 12 expressways with a length of 1,476 kilometers will begin construction in 2018. 11 freeway projects, including the one from Ji'an to Tonghua, will be extended to 1,397 kilometers. 140 kilometers of total mileage of highways is set to be added in the province.
Meanwhile, a series of measures will be taken to improve the infrastructure facilities and services along the freeways and highways. For example, over 160 million yuan ($23 million) will be invested into the reconstruction of 19 stations in the province. Also, the service areas in Changchun, Siping, Dongmei and some other cities will be upgraded into small tourist attractions.
Foreigners will be able to take a through train or even drive their own vehicles for a cross-border trip to the rural tourist attractions in the province. Transportation fee payments can be made by IC cards.
Illegal vehicles and all kinds of traffic violations will be strictly prohibited in Jilin, so as to guarantee a safe trip for all travelers.
