Almost 100 buses serving five routes in Baotou city have been equipped with new equipment that supports WeChat and Alipay payments, bringing greater convenience to passengers and bringing the city’s buses up to modern standards, according to an Aug 27 Baotou Daily report.
At present, passengers are unable to pay using the two payment APPs as the equipment is still being tested. The equipment is expected to be tested for three to four weeks. After the testing period, all buses in the city will be equipped with the new payment services.
After the official launch, passengers can use WeChat or Alipay to pay for their rides instead of needing to make sure they have the right change or needing to use an IC bus card.
