Shanghai University and the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania from the United States announced a cooperation deal and the launch of a Wharton-Shanghai University Cooperation Project Office at both campuses on Aug 25.
According to the deal, the two schools will work together on talent cultivation, scientific research and teacher training.
In July, 30 teachers who teach business courses at Shanghai University attended a two-week training program on high-quality academic paper writing, marketing, effective communication, and negotiation at the Wharton School.
The participants considered the training helpful in broadening their horizons and improving their knowledge of scientific research, and said they learned a lot from their experience at the top-rated business school.
Geoffrey Garrett, dean of Wharton School, said it is hoped that the cooperation with Shanghai University in business education will lead to more international educational cooperation in Shanghai and promote Sino-US educational cooperation.
Jin Donghan, principal of Shanghai University, said that the cooperation deal is a significant step for the university in developing its business major, and the university will keep building partnerships with world-class universities and academic institutions to improve its capacity in talent training, scientific research, and learning from other institutions from around the world.
The Wharton School, founded in 1881, is a world-renowned business school and has long been dedicated to cultivating business leaders. Its MBA program is ranked No 1 in the United States according to Forbes and No 3 in the United States according to the 2019 US News & World Report ranking.
