Since the two cities first established ties in 2016, Beijing and Shenyang have signed cooperation agreements for 208 projects, with total investment of 288.7 billion yuan ($42.38 billion), 43.2 billion yuan of which has already completed, according to a conference held in Shenyang, Northeast China's Liaoning province, on Aug 27.
During the conference, the two cities signed new agreements for 12 projects worth 30.03 billion yuan.
The two cities have promoted ties in several aspects since 2016, including through development of industries, training of skilled professionals, and exchanges of development models and concepts.
Among their cooperation projects, those in emerging industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing, new-generation information technology, new materials, aviation, big data, and e-commerce account for 40 percent of the total.
In addition, 16 projects in Shenyang have received investment from some of the world's top 500 companies and top 500 private enterprises in China, and an additional 52 projects have received investment from Zhongguancun-based firms.
Shenyang has also learnt from the development model of Zhongguancun, and established an innovation center and technology industrial park in the city.
In order to further promote exchanges of professionals, Shenyang has sent 300 cadres to Beijing to attend seminars. The two cities also launched the country’s first recruitment program specifically for holders of doctorates, and 53 people with doctorates in Beijing have already reached preliminary agreements to work in Shenyang.
