Construction on an international school project being developed by Baotou’s Shiguai district and Jiangsu Education Group began on Aug 24, reports Baotou Daily.
The two sides had previously reached agreement to build the project on July 17.
The project plans to draw an investment of 500 million yuan ($73.37 million).
Located in Xiguitu new district, the project will cover an area of 300 mu (20 hectares), including 150 mu for a primary school and junior high school, with 150 mu reserved for a kindergarten and high school.
It is hoped that the project will eventually develop into a modern high-end private education park that can accommodate some 6,000 people, including parent schools and teacher training schools. It will also be equipped with a multi-functional education area and large-scale venues that can be opened to the public when required. International courses will be offered at the high school.
Construction work on the schools will be divided into two phases. The first phase will focus on the primary schools and the middle schools, with all work expected to be completed by September 2019 to ensure students are able to enroll in time for the new semester.
Work on the second phase will begin in October 2021, with completion expected by September 2022.
