Electronic manifests start at Zhuhai bridge checkpoint

Gongbei Customs began the archive-filing service for operators of manifest transmission at the Zhuhai Border Checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) on Aug 27. This is the first-ever customs service handled by the checkpoint.

Applicants are restricted to persons in charge of inward and outward means of transport of cargo and articles across the Zhuhai Border Checkpoint. Each applicant must transmit electronic manifest data regarding the means of road transport to the checkpoint. Freight forwarding enterprises are included and must supply the data.

All it takes is completing and supplying the Archive-filing Registration Form. A receipt will be issued in a few minutes after a preliminary check of related documents.

For other applicants that have already filed data at directly affiliated customs (such as Shenzhen and Guangzhou), the Registration Form and written application documents should be submitted so they can be formally altered for archival filing.

Service is only available within the prescribed time limit -- from 8 am-noon and 2:30-5:50 pm on weekdays (excluding holidays). Those who require more information should call the hotline, 12360.

Gongbei Customs officers are preparing for the opening of the world's largest sea-span bridge, by examining inspection machines and technical systems and rehearsing the service process.
